Drums and sums

I went to my first drumming workshop on Monday night. Good Shepherd Missioners beware! I may be giving up the guitar for the djembe! I really loved it. We were playing in a small group, making this crazy orchestra like feeling of being in something and creating something together. It felt authentic and kind of respectful - not in a patronising colonial way, which I was afraid of. Our teacher as a genuine love of drumming and and seems to be a great teacher. He has a plan to teach us a 30 minute performance piece, and we will be able to go and perform it somewhere. I'd really love that, but don't know if my hands could stand it. They were tingling after 20 minutes! It kind of hurts!

I have also developed a grudging respect for excel. It is kind of clever although I don't yet speak the language. That's the summing part of the post. I have been discovering internal order forms, where you can order anything and everything for the logistics department or get quotations on. I have a plan for promotional umbrellas. As part of our contract we have a budget for visibility items, like t shirts and bags with the logo of our sponsor on. I'm thinking umbrellas would be fun and appropriate for Swaziland - where you can use them for the torrential downpours and for the blazing sun! If only I can get excel to tell me how many I can afford......!
