Anything eh? The mind boggles!

Work right now is still at the capital level. There is a very certain way to do things in Swaziland that is sometimes confusing and frustrating for a little English girl like me. Firstly before doing anything at all, you must inform official people in the capital what your intentions are. The you have to have a meeting with them to explain and hopefully get some good input on how it might work in reality in this context. Then they have to call a meeting with all anyone who they think might be interested, people are mostly available for meetings, and then everyone must have a chance to speak. Once people have all spoken, then you can all make a tentative plan together.

It's right and respectful and correct, but kind of frustrating for me. I want things to MOVE!!! I am learning the Swazi way. Slow but respectful. This is the way the project is moving. Next week we are preparing the training materials with our team and people from the Ministry of Agriculture, Nutrition Council, Infant feeding NGOs and people who work in the community, training community health workers. I think it's going to be great! I have so many ideas of how we can transmit these concepts of nutrition and malnutrition to community audiences. We are aiming at people with limited literacy, using pictures, stories, role plays and other creative things. If it works well, it's going to be brilliant.
